Frequently Asked Questions
How durable is Pillivuyt?
Pillivuyt processes its raw materials in-house. All the pieces are fired at an extremely high temperature of 1400°C. This makes the ceramic non-porous and resistant to chips and thermal shock. A high-quality glaze is applied to each piece, making the Pillivuyt porcelain easy to clean and retain its sheen. Extremely durable and tough, Pillivuyt is oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe.
What if my dishes are damaged in transit?
If any merchandise has been damaged in transit, please notify us as soon as you receive your order. We may ask for a photograph or for you to fill in a short form from our courier to confirm the damage so that we can immediately replace or refund any damaged items. Should there be a manufacturing defect, and the item remains within the manufacturer's warranty period, please describe the issue (please include photos, where relevant) so we can arrange a replacement or refund for you. We will discuss the most appropriate method of returning or replacing items directly with you. For international customers, we would be happy to assist you with any warranty claims with the manufacturer, however, postage or courier costs for any returns will need to be paid by you.
Does Pillivuyt ever go on sale?
Though we don’t believe in sales (we keep our prices competitive year-round), we do believe in fair pricing, and twice a year we offer ex-display or end-of-line items from our stock, or “Seconds” we receive from Pillivuyt directly. Pillivuyt Seconds from their factory are offered at a reduced price. Seconds offer great value with perhaps a slight aesthetic imperfection, e.g. specks of dust that might have got into the glaze at the time of manufacture. These pieces are as durable as first-quality pieces and their functionality is not impacted.
What’s the difference between the ranges in dinnerware? Can I mix and match?
The Plisse and Sancerre ranges in dinnerware are of the same high quality and finish, with a slightly different design. The (literal) beauty of Pillivuyt is that mixing and matching different ranges and pieces still allows for a cohesive look. Your delicious food will be the star of the table. In addition to dinnerware, we offer serving pieces, a wide variety of baking dishes, souffle dishes and ramekins.
I’ve seen some pieces of Pillivuyt that you don’t seem to carry. Can you help?
Yes. We have a direct relationship with Pillivuyt and can order anything we don’t carry in stores or online. Please contact us in-store or online with your enquiry.
