Product Details

Microplane is a household name across the world for their exceptional blades, the result of a signature chemical etching process that creates precise, razor-sharp teeth that outdoes most competition. With the Professional Peeler, both soft and hard food can be thinly peeled—from roots like carrots and potatoes to cucumbers, kiwis and mangos. The movable, double-sided stainless steel pendulum blade always adapts to the shape of the peel, removing only the uppermost layer of the peel and preserving the nutrients just underneath, and it includes a potato eye remover. An ergonomic soft-touch handle makes it comfortable to use, especially if peeling a large amount at once. It is suitable for both left and right-handed users and is dishwasher-safe, but not recommended as it will reduce the effectiveness of the blade.

Why we love it

‘Microplane is often used as a verb rather than a noun—you don’t just zest something, you Microplane it. Their tools are one-of-a-kind.’
About The Brand

Microplane

The first Microplane was conceived in 1990 by brothers Richard and Jeff Grace in Arkansas, USA, and was originally intended for use in woodworking. However, as the legend goes, a home cook once decided on a whim to try it out on an orange, and was astonished by the perfectly-shaped shards of zest it could produce. This ultimately led to the development of the Microplane brand as we know it today—a household name and the industry standard for graters, shavers, and zesters.

What sets Microplane products apart from others is their exceptional, long-lasting sharpness: the blades are made by means of a patented photochemical etching process that shapes them far more precisely than traditional mechanical means. The razor-sharp blades finely slice ingredients, rather than crushing or tearing them like the duller metal-stamped blades on standard graters; this makes grating or zesting much less laborious, and improves the taste, texture, and appearance of whatever you’re grating.
