Product Details

This Kai Shun Chef's Knife comes from their Classic White series which combines centuries-old Japanese Samurai blacksmithing with modern and sophisticated manufacturing processes. The blade is ground on both sides and made of VG MAX steel with a hardness of 61 (±1) HRC and is enclosed within 32 layers of Damascus steel. It is this combination that ensures the blade’s long-lasting sharpness and durability that Kai is known for. In contrast to the dark handle of the original Shun Classic series, the handle is made of ash-coloured Pakkawood. This does not refer to a particular wood species but is the general term for bonded layered wood veneers using high-quality resins. This provides for the handle's stability and endurance. Made in Japan.

As their products reached global popularity, Kai has expanded their range to include European shapes like the chef’s knife as well as ambidextrous handles, such as in the Kai Shun Premier and Kai Shun Nagare ranges.
