Product Details
Ceramic Japan began in 1973 to create cutting-edge designs with the traditional skills born in Seto, a city famous for ceramic production in Japan, where they are based.
This beautiful Crinkle Superbag Vase was designed by Makoto Komatsu, whose works can be found in the Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. When the Crinkle Bag vase was first released, it was selected to be part of the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMA).
The Crinkle Vase series, designed to appear as a paper bag, is produced by manipulating plaster moulds to recreate various surface textures. The lovely matte shading of the porcelain comes from a bisque finish that avoids the use of glaze.
Why we love it
'It's a good weight, incredibly detailed and uniquely beautiful.'
